Heath Ledger and Colin Farrell are among stars in the frame to play Michael Hutchence in a biopic about the troubled rock star's life. British director Nick Egan, who knew Hutchence and directed some of INXS's music videos, is on board to direct Slide Away.
Hutchence was found dead in a Sydney hotel on November 22, 1997. He was 37. "We do have a script and we're trying to get financing at the moment," Mr Egan's agent, Abram Nalibotsky, said. "We are trying to get an actor attached. It's a long list, from Colin Farrell to Heath Ledger." Mr Nalibotsky, whose agency also represents the film's two script-writers, Chester Hastings and R. Dean McCreary, said the script would focus on how Hutchence dealt with celebrity. "The film's about when he came into fame through the final years of his life," Mr Nalibotsky said. Hutchence had affairs with singer Kylie Minogue, model Helena Christensen and Bob Geldof's former wife Paula Yates, with whom Hutchence had a daughter, Tiger Lily, now aged 11.
